To vote on the Constitution in absentia it is impossible according to the state Duma

MOSCOW, 22 APR – RIA Novosti. To vote on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation due to coronavirus in a correspondence format in order not to question its results, according to the head of the Duma Committee on state construction and legislation Pavel Krasheninnikov.

Earlier nationwide vote on amendments to the Constitution was scheduled for 22 April, but because of the pandemic coronavirus the deadline had been postponed.

“At the same time to vote in absentia format, in my opinion, it is impossible not to question its results. Still need to have the confidence not only to the text of the amendments, but also to the voting process. It is therefore necessary to wait until the epidemic is over and the situation stabiliziruemost, and to come to the stations to vote. All procedures prescribed by law, necessary to carry out”, – the MP said, quoted by the press service of the Committee.

the MP stressed that, “it would seem, abstract theses proposed in the text of the Constitution, in the context of pandemic coronavirus moved to a real need”, it proves the relevance of the amendments proposed to the basic law.

“To such measures continued to work in the future, when will the pandemic to help citizens and legal persons to overcome the effects of the crisis need to consolidate them in the basic law, supporting amendments on the national vote,” said Krasheninnikov.

He added that the text of the new Constitution is ready, has been approved by the Duma and the Federation Council, supported by the regional parliaments of all subjects of the Russian Federation “remained the word for citizens.”
