The TikTok app in the coming days will no longer be available for users in Hong Kong in connection with the adoption authorities of the PRC law on national security in this special administrative region of China. On Tuesday Reuters reported with reference to the representative of the company.

"In light of recent events we have decided to discontinue the app TikTok in Hong Kong" – said the company.

Earlier, the administrator of the WhatsApp messenger, owned by the American company Facebook, has suspended consideration of requests of competent authorities in Hong Kong on the provision of personal data of users, citing the need to carefully study the new law on national security in this special administrative region of the PRC.

On 30 June, the standing Committee of vsekitajsky meeting of national representatives (Parliament) adopted the law on national security in Hong Kong. It is aimed at combating the threats of terrorism, separatism and of undermining, and colluding with foreign forces. The legal act provides for life imprisonment as the maximum punishment, the establishment in Hong Kong of the security agencies with broad powers, the possibility of conducting an investigation and consideration of individual cases in mainland China.
