The US has offered Russia to create a line of communication to prevent conflicts in outer space. This was announced by assistant Secretary of state for international security and nonproliferation Christopher Ford, reports RIA Novosti.
According to him, the more real is to organize two-way communication channel than multilateral. Ford noted that the establishment of the communication line due to the need for rapid communication between the United States and Russia to resolve potential problems. He stressed that in the last two weeks Russia is doing strange and dangerous things in orbit, and so it may happen some misunderstanding.
Assistant Secretary of state for international security said that the parties will discuss this issue in the negotiations between experts of the two countries in Vienna, which will be held next week.
Earlier, Ford said the United States believes “bad ideas” the proposals of Russia and China on the establishment of an international Treaty on the prevention of placement of weapons in outer space. According to him, “it is almost impossible to give a definition of what "weapons in space"”. In addition, the diplomat said, even if the agreement is accepted, it will not be possible to monitor its implementation.
