The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) believes that it is inappropriate to compare Jesus Christ with political teachings. This was told by Vakhtang Kipshidze, deputy chairman of the Synodal department of the Moscow Patriarchate for relations of the Church with society and the media.

Earlier, the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Gennady Zyuganov, said that Jesus Christ was “the first communist on the planet.”

“We do not consider it correct and appropriate to compare the incarnate God with any political and economic teachings, including communism,” Kipshidze stressed in an interview with RIA Novosti.

At the same time, the representative of the Russian Orthodox Church recalled that “the doors of Orthodox churches remain open to believers from all Russian parties.”
