The Children’s Musical Theater of the Young actor (DMTUA) has started a new season. At the traditional gathering of the troupe, its artistic director Alexander Fedorov told what awaits the artists and the audience in the near future.

Before the New Year, the theater plans to release five performances. One of the main premieres of this season will be a musical based on the novel of the same name by Grigory Belykh and Leonid Panteleev. The performance will be accompanied by an orchestra. The premiere will take place on October 29 on the new stage of the theater on Chistye Prudy.

The action of the story takes place in the 1920s in the Petrograd orphanage – the Dostoevsky school, which the pupils in the spirit of the time call SHKID. Director Viktor Nikolaevich Soroka-Rosinsky (also in the spirit of the time of Vikniksor) treats the Shkids as his own children and helps them find their way in life. The story is autobiographical: the authors were pupils of the Dostoevsky School, one of the five city schools for street boys with difficult upbringing.

“The story interested us first of all because this year the work turns 95 years old. We received a grant from the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives for the performance. This is very responsible for us,” Alexander Fedorov said.

On Malaya Dmitrovka, an updated performance will be shown — a fairy tale by Korney Chukovsky “Fedorino Mountain”. The production received a new musical arrangement, a new cast, scenery and costumes. This gives the right to call the first show a full-fledged premiere, the artistic director believes.

Two new productions are being prepared on the same stage —. Both are designed for the youngest viewers, their duration is no more than 45 minutes. The creators, young authors and directors are the winners of the DMTUA directing laboratory, which was held under a grant from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

A vaudeville musical will be shown on the stage of the Moscow Musical Theater for Children and Youth “Impromptu”, which after the reorganization recently became part of the DMTUA.

The children’s musical theater of the young actor will take part in the celebration of the City Day. The events dedicated to the holiday, where the theater will be involved, will be held on September 9 and 10. A concert program “Let’s Sing, friends!” will take place on the new stage at Chistye Prudy, and a concert number prepared specially for the City Day will be shown in Zaryadye Park.

In October, the theater will host the memorial day of Emil Gilels, pianist, People’s Artist of the USSR, winner of the Lenin and Stalin Prizes of the first degree. On this day, a concert is planned at the theater, details have not yet been disclosed.
