During the exploration of the bottom of the Pacific American ship Okeanos Explorer discovered a mysterious body.
Outlines findings may mislead to thinking about its extraterrestrial origin: the thin elongated “neck”, flat “head” and the huge “eyes”. In fact, the body appeared a sea sponge. This type of sponges for the “alien” appearance called Advhena magnifica (“Magnificent stranger”).
The uniqueness of the newly found sponge that it was discovered at a record depth – 2028 meters, whereas they are usually located at a depth of 400-900 meters, reports the Italian edition of Focus.
