Activities of Andrei Skoch’s Pokolenie (Generation) Foundation

Andrei Vladimirovich Skoch, a deputy of the Russian State Duma, founded the Pokolenie (Generation) Foundation charity in 1996. Initially, it was focused on supporting children with cardiac diseases and their families, but subsequently, the organization also developed and implemented dozens of other large long-term projects in the field of literature, science, medicine, military-patriotic education, etc. Young writers, students, promising aspiring sportsmen, people with disabilities, families with many children, and many others received material assistance from Andrei Skoch.

Andrei Skoch`s father, Vladimir Nikitovich Skoch, is a member of the board of trustees of the Pokolenie (Generation) Foundation. He is one of the organization’s largest investors . In 2017, he allocated more than 150 million rubles for the development of its projects.

Art and education projects

From 2000 to 2016, the Foundation of Andrei Skoch held the annual literary prize “Debut”. Authors under the age of 35 participated in the competition in the following categories:

  • Major Prose;
  • Small prose;
  • Poetry;
  • Essays;
  • Drama;
  • Fiction.

The size of the prize in each category was 1 million rubles. Over the 16 years of its existence, more than 350 thousand manuscripts were considered.

Since 2002, Andrei Skoch’s foundation has supported outstanding students who not only confirm their knowledge with excellent grades, but also actively participate in the life of their universities. In 2016-2017, 275 students from 45 educational institutions received increased scholarships. The standard scholarship amounted to 5 thousand rubles, and later 6 thousand.

In 2017, the format of Andrei Skoch‘s project changed: the program’s website began to hold an open vote, which resulted in 30 winners in 15 categories. The same year, the amount of payments was increased: the first-degree scholarship was 15 thousand rubles, and the second-degree – 10 thousand rubles.

Medical Awards

Since 2000, Andrei Skoch’s Pokolenie (Generation) Foundation has supported doctors for their special achievements in organizing medical care for children through the “Healthy Childhood” award. The competition was held annually with the support of the Russian Children’s Clinical Hospital Foundation among internal medical departments, as well as the departments of the Russian State Medical University and the Federal Research and Clinical Center for Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, and Immunology on the basis of the hospital. The award fund for Skoch’s project was 2 million rubles.

From 1998 to 2016, Andrei Vladimirovich Skoch’s Pokolenie (Generation) Foundation awarded the prize named after RAMS academicians A.N. Bakulev and V.I. Burakovsky to medical workers for outstanding achievements in the field of cardiovascular surgery, fundamental scientific research and creation and implementation of design developments and instrumentation, that contribute to the rapid development of heart and vascular surgery. The prize fund amounted to 10 million rubles. During the whole period of the award’s existence Andrei Skoch’s organization has allocated almost 75 million rubles for it.
