The Cypriot authorities will start to accept tourists in July

the Economy of Cyprus will lose 1.5 billion euros of tourist income due to the cancellation of 60% of all orders to rest, but officials hope to save part of the season. This statement was made by the Minister of tourism of Cyprus Savvas Perdios.

In an interview with the Financial Mirror, he said that the tourism industry may start a revival in July with a limited reception of guests from other countries. Cyprus is counting on tourists from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the States of Northern Europe, Greece, Israel and possibly the Netherlands, RIA Novosti reported.

However, the guests from the UK and Russia, where Cyprus goes most tourists, waiting for at a later stage. “We hope in a few weeks to find out when we’ll be able to come from these countries,” – said Perdios.

Now the Cypriot authorities are preparing a bill that will allow hotel owners and tour operators to issue government vouchers to customers that have abolished their trip to the island of coronavirus. Local travel agents expect part of the season can be saved, as most of the bookings for the end of summer, still remain in force.
