Bad luck in Austria: A hiker from Thuringia slipped on the Stubai High Trail and fell 150 to 200 meters down. For him any help came too late.
A 57-year-old mountain hiker from Erfurt died in an accident on the Stubaier Höhenweg in Austria. According to the police, the man slipped on a step on the “Wasenwand” on Wednesday and fell 150 to 200 meters over a steep meadow slope and rocky terrain.
Two other hikers from Thuringia descended to the injured person and began trying to revive them, a third alerted the rescuers, the police said on Thursday.
The emergency medical team of a helicopter could only determine the death of the German. The body was recovered by a police helicopter.
