Microsoft users complained about a major disruption on Wednesday morning. Many applications stopped working. However, many workers rely on programs such as Teams. We name alternatives.

If you are looking for alternatives to network with your colleagues, you can use the following programs:

Slack: A web-based instant messaging service that is available in a free variant. You can create groups and share files with the program.

Zoom: A video conferencing tool. There is also a free basic version here. Group meetings, screen sharing and recording are possible.

Google Meet: Again, a video conferencing tool, you also get a free basic plan with features like group meetings, screen sharing, and recording.

Discord: This communication tool is used for (voice/video) chat and can also be used directly in the browser.

Jitis Meet: The tool lets you create video conferences without any software installation or cumbersome registration.

A worldwide disruption at Microsoft led to the failure of numerous services of the software group on Wednesday. Users reported on portals such as “alle disturbances.de” that, among other things, the office communication platform Teams and the e-mail service Outlook.com were not working. Microsoft confirmed that the network infrastructure was disrupted worldwide. A solution is being worked on, according to the company’s website.

Not only do the group’s in-house offerings rely on Microsoft’s cloud services such as Azure, but many start-ups and large companies also use them for their operations.
