The staff of the Higher school of technology and energy, St. Petersburg state University industrial technology and design have developed a drug, degrading petroleum products, including at low temperatures, allowing cleaning from oil pollution water and soil, told RIA Novosti in the press service of the Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation.

Development was a continuation of research in the field of creation of mineral fertilizers prolonged action on the basis of phosphate glass. Their unique properties allowed to create a technology to produce porous granules, which became the carrier of the biological product, capable of cleaning oil pollution from water and soil.

"the Principle of operation of a biological product is as follows: on steklopokety porous granules immobilized cells of microorganisms neftegastruba, that degrade hydrocarbons and clean soil or water from oil pollution… After the decomposition of petroleum products microorganisms die off and become the food chain for the native microbial flora," says one of its authors, associate Professor of the Higher school of technology and energy Spbgutd Alex hlynovskom.

Field testing of biopesticide was conducted on the basis of various enterprises, including on-site Surgutneftegaz and Irkutsk oil company.
