MOSCOW, 24 APR – RIA Novosti. The implementation of the idea of Kiev to expand Wikipedia content on Ukraine will be accompanied by the glorification of the Ukrainian nationalists, including those in the years of the great Patriotic war were active accomplices of the German Nazis and participants of the mass punitive actions, says scientific Director of the Russian military historical society (RVIA) Mikhail Myagkov.

the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported earlier that starts the campaign, which aims – to attract more people to the content of Wikipedia information on Ukraine and to “counter misinformation”.

In an interview with RIA Novosti Myagkov reminded that in Soviet times and in recent history came out in the papers prepared by professional experts, which in full was told about the history of Ukraine and its people.

“It is possible to foresee, as we can see, what is the relationship to historical memory now takes place in Ukraine. However, I would like to warn those who will do that their actions lead not only the growth of ultranationalist, but also of Nazism,” – said the historian.

Myagkov reminded that the Nuremberg trials the Nazis and their accomplices were convicted of their crimes which have no Statute of limitations.

In may 2015, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko gave the UPA* (“the organization of Ukrainian nationalists”,* the military wing UPA*) the status “fighters for independence” of Ukraine, and its participants — the right to social security. Moscow condemned the decision, noting that “Ukraine — is the country where neo-Nazis have moved from words to deeds and killed thousands of civilians” and “that such action is necessary to give an adequate assessment at the international level”.

Glorification of* UPA and its leaders Stepan Bandera and Roman Shukhevych — drawn criticism from many war veterans and politicians, accusing Bandera in cooperation with the Nazis.
