The air temperature in summer in the European and southern parts of Russia will be above normal. About this in an interview with URA.RU said the head of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand.

“In the European territory of Russia, the temperature background is expected to be about and slightly above normal. In the south of European Russia, it is mostly above the norm. In temperate latitudes, summer will not be as hot as last year,” the forecaster said.

He noted that less precipitation is expected in the southern regions of the country than last year. But the highest temperature will be in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and in Yakutia, the meteorologist continued.

Vilfand stressed that such long-term forecasts are not always 100 percent implemented.

“Scientists are developing models of atmospheric circulation and each time they issue forecasts for winter and summer. At the same time, it is very important that they are never sure that there will be exactly the kind of summer that they predicted. There is such a concept that characterizes the degree of confidence in the correct forecast. So, when it comes to a long—term forecast, the degree of confidence cannot be more than 65-67 percent,” concluded the head of the Hydrometeorological Center.

Earlier, a meteorologist for Muscovites predicted heat up to 28 degrees and rains during the week.
