The Central election Commission of Russia has received an official invitation from Belarus to participate in monitoring the elections of the President of the Republic and decided not to send its observers there.

“first, the CEC of Russia did not receive the traditional formal invitation from his Belarusian colleagues, which is sent in advance in accordance with the existing bilateral cooperation agreement of 4 June 1998” — leads TASS words of the head of the Russian Central election Commission Ella Pamfilova.

She noted that Russian observers are usually part of the mission of the Office for democratic institutions and human rights (ODIHR) of the OSCE, which this year also will not go to Belarus.

According to Pamfilova, the Russian, the CEC also will not send their representatives in the composition of the CIS observation mission.

Sixth presidential election in Belarus will be held on 9 August.

Earlier it was reported that the PACE, despite the invitation of the Belarusian side, will not send observers to the forthcoming August 9 presidential elections in Belarus.
