Russia is ready to supply Belarus 7 thousand tons of buckwheat

yesterday the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has ordered to increase production of buckwheat in the Republic, allegedly due to difficulties with the supply of the cereals from Russia. “The Russians have refused to work with us, as it was in Soviet times, when we there more bought buckwheat: there’s more grows than us,” he said. Their own Republic covers only half of its needs in buckwheat. The remaining volume is purchased mainly in Russia.

According to her, Belarusian partners have expressed interest in the supply of seven thousand tons of buckwheat, and almost two thousand tons of rice. Given the scale of Russian production and the domestic stocks of buckwheat, the Russian side has agreed deliveries of Belarusian partners. And on April 15 the agricultural producers of the Altai territory was shipped to Belarus 538 tonnes of buckwheat. As of today, the Republic of Belarus has already delivered more than 2.7 thousand tons of Russian buckwheat.

In member countries (including Belarus) this prohibition does not apply. This measure is used just to ensure the market of the Eurasian economic Union necessary foodstuffs.
