Unknown gangsters attacked an elderly couple in Düsseldorf in their villa and stole jewelry worth several 100,000 euros. The criminals injured the 83-year-old husband with a knife, the police said on Monday.
The police themselves had encountered a suspicious situation on site and had already surrounded the villa when the victims, the 83-year-old and his 71-year-old wife, opened the door and reported that they had been mugged. The criminals then fled in an unknown direction. The frightened victims were later able to free themselves. The injured man had to be treated as an outpatient in a hospital.
