the project Participant #Myvote Evgeny Sharonov – a representative of the St. Petersburg intelligentsia. Before the pandemic she’s fifteen years in the research Museum of the Russian Academy of arts. With volunteering so far encountered is that as the organizer – for example, during the “Night of museums””. And now along with the other volunteers Eugene brings pensioners from the shops with heavy bags of groceries and calling pharmacies to find the right medication.

– the Offer to join the project #Myvote received it officially via email from the portal of public Services. No doubt about it. I wanted to be a part of, useful. Goals and objectives of the project were close, because I myself have relatives – parents, grandmother, aunt, located on the isolation and need support, – says Eugene. – Most relatives supported me. They, of course, worried, but these experiences are expressed by care and aid. A friend of the restorer, for example, brought me the alcohol for antiseptic and masks. Someone just gave me words of encouragement. There were, of course, and uncomprehending: “You pay for it? No? Then why do you need this?”. In such cases, I usually laugh off.

About the decision I have not regretted. In the first day received a lot of positive emotions from live interaction with applicants. Our grandmothers and grandfathers. Shortened to the affectionate “BA” and “De” in our volunteer community. Very touching. Each applicant is a separate story and character. Not always comfortable in communicating, but the more interesting task is to each must find its own approach.

We get used to them, try to do a lot more than prescribed in the regulations. These stories each volunteer a lot.

Grandma asked “meat soup” but no dice. Understand that the prices at which she expects to obtain meat, no longer in sight. When I buy meat on the bone, please cut it in half and punch two checks. The part with the flesh give grandma a bone keep. You have to Dodge.

the other order was not the necessary medicines are discontinued. Medicines permanent, without in any way. Need a replacement, but how to get to the doctor if clinics are closed? Elderly difficult to sort out how to act here. Managed to call your doctor and find a replacement. So details and nuances are many.

I love the “fairy” names of our charges. In my piggy Bank – great grandmother Medea, live fun Rosalia E., very touching grandma, my neighbor with the middle name Leonidovna.

They get used to us, we get used to them. They are open during the forced isolation, they miss communication and we were almost the only intermediaries with the outside world… In this way, for me I WAalas the biggest problem. Very difficult is to keep the very necessary social distance. Often invited for tea, go to the apartment to talk longer, get upset when they are denied. Elderly people find it difficult to understand the degree of risk. But for me the priority is the observance of safety measures. So for myself, I decided not to take regular filings.

you Know, sometimes volunteers are outraged when come to the application and see that the pensioner is not alone, with him living quite young relatives who could go to the store and the pharmacy. I try not to go into the reasons for this state of Affairs. I had an applicant living with an elderly mother. Almost my age. I was surprised, but the request fulfilled. It turned out, though he is mobile, but is self-isolation for fear of infecting mom. Very polite, caring. Dictated by a list of essential drugs, it is so touching added: “Buy, please, one more gingerbread mom to tea, if you are difficult”… So the situations are different. I don’t judge others. My goal is to provide older people is required.

Another positive aspect of volunteering is that it is a community of interesting people. Very interesting! And it is very different. Surprising when at the end or even at night people are able to feed energy to write words of support. Everyone is very helpful, always ready to help – with advice, transport, physical strength. But each, in addition, volunteer activities, have their own concerns and problems.

the communication we understand that we have everyone’s favorite. For example, grandfather, requesting I go. Know birth date, wedding anniversary, favorite foods, even eating his cat. Lovingly dubbed it “grandpa’s regiment”.

we have Such a close-knit part-time team. Help BA, De and each other, dreaming meet “at seven o’clock after the war.
