the Incident occurred at about midnight local time Monday, according to Newsweek. The glow lasted so long that witnesses managed to record it on the phone.

“We don’t think it’s space junk, since the picture is somewhat different from how he usually burns in the atmosphere. But it’s very similar to a large meteor,” said astronomer Rene Sayers from the University of Curtin in the comments to 7News.
