Prosper, Texas, has launched a drone program in collaboration with Flock Safety to revolutionize emergency response efforts. The city aims to reduce response times significantly, from five to six minutes down to just 90 seconds to two minutes, Mayor David Bristol expressed high hopes for the program, stating that it will not only benefit Prosper but also set a new standard for public safety across the state. The drones will offer real-time situational awareness and support to first responders, enhancing overall emergency services in the area.

Other departments in North Texas, including Arlington PD, have also started incorporating drones into their operations, recognizing the potential benefits of this technology. In Prosper, the drones have been in action for the past two weeks, dispatched directly by 9-1-1 operators to arrive at scenes ahead of officers. Police Chief Doug Kowalski emphasized the importance of the drones as a crucial new tool in improving officer and citizen safety. The drones are part of an integrated system that includes license plate readers from Flock Safety, which have already proven useful in tracking down stolen vehicles.

The city of Prosper is the first in Texas to introduce the Flock Aerodome Drone as First Responder system, equipped with advanced technology like Detect and Avoid (DAA) radar and integration with Flock911 and Flock License Plate Readers (LPR). With the ability to fly up to 400 feet, these drones offer a more versatile and cost-effective alternative to traditional helicopters. Fire Chief Stuart Blasingame highlighted the game-changing potential of aerial views for firefighters, enabling them to assess situations more effectively and deploy resources accordingly. The drones provide thermal imaging, radar, and real-time communication capabilities, enhancing the overall efficiency of emergency response efforts.
