In the Kaliningrad region have perpetuated the memory of the Soviet soldiers who died in the first days of the great Patriotic war. In the settlement Chernyshevskoe bordering Lithuanian town Kybartai, established the memorial, which is dedicated to the military 106 tauragė border detachment. They took the first blow of the fascist armies on 22 June in this area of the border.

the opening ceremony of the memorial sign was held today, June 17, the press service of the regional government. Participants of the rally honored the memory of fallen heroes with a moment of silence and laid flowers to the memorial.

In June 1941 in the town of Kybartai Lithuanian SSR was stationed 4th border commander, 4th reserve frontier, the 15th border post and the checkpoint “Virbalis” of the 106 tauragė border detachment. During the bloody battles, which lasted from 22 to 24 June 1941, heroically killed about two hundred soldiers of these units. They were holding off the Nazi tanks, infantry, armored.

– Tomb guards, who died in 1941, remained in Lithuania. So the idea arose to immortalize their feat and here on Russian soil. It is symbolic that the memorial sign is set on the eve of the mournful anniversary of the date of the beginning of the great Patriotic war – said the Chairman of the Board of the Kaliningrad regional public organization of veterans of the border service, Colonel Vladimir Shevchenko.
