The first six years of the launch from Plesetsk navigation satellite of new generation “GLONASS-K” is to be held on 6 August 2020. In July, the satellite will be delivered to the launch site.

It is reported RIA Novosti citing a source. The Agency notes that only in 2020, the launch was postponed several times. This is due to the delay in the production apparatus.

To send into orbit “GLONASS-K”, whose service life will be ten years, should the carrier rocket “Soyuz-2.1 b” with the upper stage “Fregat”.

At present, Russian orbital group GLONASS satellite system consists of 25 vehicles “GLONASS-M” and two “GLONASS-K”. For the intended purpose are 23 satellites, for global coverage of the Earth need 24.

Earlier NEWS.ru reported that the navigation satellite “GLONASS-M” system with the number 731, which operated in orbit for ten years instead of seven provisions, will replace the backup camera. The satellites were launched together in March 2010, but the unit with system number 735 can still work for the intended purpose. Work has ceased, the apparatus is removed for maintenance.
