Heirs of the United States in world leadership could be Russia, India and China. So, the General Director of the Institute of regional problems Dmitry Zhuravlev in an interview with "Evening Moscow" commented on the statement by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Earlier, Merkel said that European countries must seriously reflect on the new reality where the United States may not seek to be a world leader.
The expert notes that the United States ceased to be the absolute leaders in the world.
"Just after 1945 Europe used to think that Americans are the main", — said Zhuravlev.
According to him, the United States has a strong army, but not the strongest economy.
Zhuravlev believes that Russia has a huge potential, especially basic science.
The analyst stresses that the new competitors of the United States were China and India, but they do not have well-developed fundamental science, which would provide a new industry in the economy. However, he noted that science in these countries is developing rapidly.
Earlier, the German Chancellor has already made critical remarks against the United States. In particular, in September, she stated that Europe needs to think about their safety because the United States will not defend it automatically, as it was during the cold war.
