At Amazon Prime, various celebrities are training to be stand-up comedians. The new show starts in July.

Amazon’s streaming division Prime Video has found a start date for the “One Mic Stand” announced last October and at the same time named other participants who will be prepared for a stand-up program by experienced comedians. In the German adaptation of the Indian original, soccer professionals Christoph Kramer and Mats Hummels are coached by Harald Schmidt. Michael Mittermeier prepares “Let’s Dance” juror Motsi Mabuse for her performance, while moderator of the format Teddy Teclebrhan forms a couple with actor Fahri Yardim. Torsten Sträter also teams up with model Lorena Rae.

It was already known that Hazel Brugger was helping Health Minister Karl Lauterbach when he appeared (Quotenmeter reported). He completed the comedy excursion before he was appointed Minister of Health. The five-part series, in which the celebrities perform a stand-up in front of a larger audience for the first time, can be seen beginning July 15 on Amazon Prime Video. The streaming service makes all five episodes available in one fell swoop.

In addition to the performances of the comedy amateurs, Tedros “Teddy” Teclebrhan and the 15-strong show band will welcome the audience. Between excerpts from the teams’ coaching sessions, the anarcho-comedian inspires the audience “with exclusive performances, slips into a wide variety of roles and proves his talent as an entertainment all-rounder with a rousing stage show,” as the announcement says. After the performances by Lauterbach, Mabuse and Co., the comedians also perform a stand-up routine themselves. The Amazon Original Show was taped in Fall 2021 and produced by Leonine Studios in association with Amazon Studios. So even before Lauterbach became Minister of Health.
