Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) and journalist Franca Lehfeldt will marry on Sylt on Thursday. Together with 140 guests, the bridal couple will celebrate their wedding over several days. Chancellor Scholz is also present.

Now the time has come! On Thursday, July 7th, the wedding bells will ring for Federal Minister of Finance Christian Lindner (43, FDP) and journalist Franca Lehfeldt (33) on Sylt. First, the couple will be married in a civil ceremony, followed by the church wedding on Saturday in the Church of St. Severin, which has hardly been able to save itself from media interest in the past few days.

“We make no difference,” said community manager Elmar Kruse to “t-online”. “Whether it’s a village wedding or a prominent wedding like Mr. Lindner’s: everyone is treated the same here,” he clarifies. Fashion designer Guido Maria Kretschmer and his partner were married in the church in 2018. The press agent refers to the privacy of Lindner and Lehfeldt and does not respond to further inquiries. Also why the two are getting married in a church, although both have already left the evangelical church, as the “Bild” newspaper reports,” the church office and Lindner’s spokeswoman leave uncommented.

While the future bride and her family are already on the beautiful island, according to “Bild” information, the groom will only arrive on the eve of the wedding. According to “RTL”, the couple will first get married in a civil ceremony in the Sylt Museum in Keitum on Thursday. The bridal couple deliberately chose July 7th as the wedding date: on that day four years ago, Franca and Christian met for the first time, according to “Bild”. After the ceremony, the wedding party will gather in the “Vogelkoje” restaurant and dine à la carte. From Vitello Tonnato (24 euros) to Maibockrücken (48 euros) the culinary well-being of the guests is taken care of there.

But Thursday is just the start of the wedding marathon: According to media reports, the wedding-eve party is on the following Friday, July 8th. A wedding custom in which the bride and groom traditionally smash old china – this is said to bring good luck.

Finally, on Saturday, July 9th, the most exciting part of the festivities follows: the church wedding. As BUNTE already reported in May, this takes place in the afternoon in the St. Severin Church. Incidentally, this is exactly where designer Guido Maria Kretschmer (57) gave his partner the yes word.

And while we’re on the subject of other celebrities: A “Who’s who” of the German elite is expected at Lindner’s and Lehfeldt’s wedding. Chancellor Olaf Scholz (64, SPD), Friedrich Merz (66, CDU) and Armin Laschet (61) are invited. It is currently uncertain whether government colleagues Robert Habeck (52, Greens) and Annalena Baerbock (41, Greens) will also attend the wedding celebrations.

In addition to the top political figures, there are also well-known representatives from sport and society such as dressage rider Isabell Werth (52) on the guest list, which comprises a total of 140 people. They will all be staying at the luxurious Severins, a 62-room, five-star hotel.

After the church wedding, the wedding party goes to the “Sansibar” society bar. Certainly a nice alternative to Tuscany, where the finance minister and his future wife actually wanted to celebrate.

But that was not possible for security reasons. Because as a member of the federal government, Lindner – just like some of his top-class guests – needs personal security. This could apparently not be granted by the Federal Criminal Police Office in Italy.
