Sovereignty is not an abstract concept, and that allows current and will allow the next generation to remain Belarusians. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during the ball of graduates of higher educational establishments, BelTA reports.

He wished the young people to preserve Belarus and stay on their land. “This will allow you to make decisions in your life and the life of the country, not to look around and think, what to say or, worse still, will point to East or West. Worship of all things foreign, not to imitate someone else’s traditions, and by becoming a model for who wants to be other countries and peoples,” he said, urging graduates to keep the tradition.

Lukashenko has sent written congratulations with the Day of youth, in which he reasoned about his youth: “Time of first love, finding true friends, career choices and life priorities. You were born and grew up in independent Belarus, which was created and built as a state where people of great wisdom and unity based on law and justice, esteem the world, respect their history and experience of previous generations.”

In Belarus on 9 August presidential election. Lukashenko, who intends to run for a sixth term, said that the country wants to organize a revolution. On 25 June he complained of foreign interference in the election campaign. According to him, the Russian Telegram-channels distribute a “terrible fake” to discredit the Belarusian authorities. He promised to discuss the situation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In the background the race the Belarusian law enforcers detained two of Lukashenka’s opponents — the former head of Belgazprombank Victor Babariko and blogger Sergei Tikhanovski. The criminal cases brought against several opposition bloggers. In Minsk and other cities of the Republic held a protest.
