President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has appointed Ambassador of the Republic of the United States, BelTA reports.

It is reported that he became the Deputy head of the Belarusian foreign Ministry Oleg Kravchenko.

Washington and Minsk are mutually recalled its Ambassador in 2008, currently the Embassy is headed by temporary attorneys.

In February, the US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo visited Belarus and held talks with Lukashenko and foreign Minister Vladimir Makei. The parties confirmed their willingness to exchange ambassadors.

Mackay noted that the return of the ambassadors in the capitals of the two countries after a 12-year break will contribute to the development of relations. However, he stressed that Minsk would not “to be friends with anybody against somebody.”
