The key figures for the Bundesliga financial year, which the German Football League (DFL) has now published, are quite something. The factory and patron clubs have one piquant thing in common.

Hertha with a record loss: While Hertha BSC is stuck on its 78 million euro loss from the 2021 calendar year, the two factory clubs Bayer Leverkusen and VfL Wolfsburg solve the money problems quite simply: the group behind them equalizes the balance sheets, i.e. Bayer and Volkswagen!

Corporations pay lousy: Leverkusen lost 13.7 million euros in the Corona year, at Wolfsburg it was 17.8 million lousy, which were offset in the balance sheet published by the DFL. In the Bundesliga, only TSG Hoffenheim can afford this luxury of doing business without consequences. In the case of the Kraichgauers, patron Dietmar Hopp compensates for the 23.9 million loss.

Freiburg top: Freiburg (EUR 9.8 million profit), RB Leipzig (EUR 2.8 million profit) and Bayern Munich (EUR 1.9 million profit) were the only three clubs to report a positive business result. In the case of RasenBallsport, the large corporation behind the club did not have to come to the rescue to compensate.
