The Ukrainian authorities have changed their position on Crimea and realized that this issue is closed. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, a member of the top five candidates for the State Duma from the United Russia party, Sergey Lavrov, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the diplomat, the holding of elections in the Crimea and in the Donbas, in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions should not worry the Ukrainian government, since these territories are not controlled by the center.

“Crimea is a settled matter, we have explained everything to everyone on this score a long time ago, and we understood everything, including, I am convinced, the Ukrainian leaders themselves,” Lavrov stressed.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Minister called the statement made by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky against the Russian population of the country inciting ethnic hatred. In an interview published on August 5, the Ukrainian leader advised Russians to ” leave and look for a place in Russia.”
