Now, Roskosmos, announced details on the timing of the construction and testing of a new spacecraft “Luna-25”. An obligatory stage of its establishment is to conduct electrical and functional tests, which will begin in the first quarter of 2021, and will be completed in the summer. The start is scheduled for October 1, 2021, landing in the middle of the month.
the Project “Luna-25” – part of the Russian lunar program. The mission aims to study the lunar surface in the circumpolar region, as well as the development of technology of soft landing.
Note that the polar area was first selected for operation of the spacecraft. Until now, all Soviet and American missions, as well as products from other countries has landed into temperate latitudes or near the equator. Unfortunately, the implementation of the program “Luna-25” has been much delayed: initially the launch was planned in 2014, but later was postponed several times.
