Expect more dry weather in the Central and Western US

A fairly quiet forecast this Labor Day Monday, with no major storms to be wary of.

There are some thunderstorms and scattered showers possible across the Gulf Coast, South, and parts of the Mid-Atlantic.

Today’s Northeast is also seeing scattered showers.

Tuesday will see stronger storms over the Great Lakes and upper Midwest.

The central United States and the West are expected to experience mostly dry weather.

Warnings for excessive heat are in effect for the Southwest, Southern California, and will continue to the Great Basin West and Intermountain West.

Red flag warnings have been issued for the Rockies and the northern High Plains due to wildfire danger.

The West has been affected by smoke from ongoing wildfires, which has led to poor air quality in large swathes of the West and the Rockies.

Hurricane Larry, a Category 3 hurricane, is expected to remain far from the U.S. but dangerous rip currents and rough surf will continue to be a danger to large swathes of the East Coast.
