(Ottawa) A well-known personality in the Canadian film world, Julie Roy, will become Executive Director of Telefilm Canada on April 3, for a five-year term.

Canadian Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez made the announcement Monday morning in a statement.

Julie Roy has nearly 30 years of experience in the Canadian film industry, notably as director of the National Film Board of Canada.

She has produced 50 animated films and designed numerous marketing campaigns.

Minister Rodriguez noted that Ms. Roy, a graduate of the University of Montreal, has acquired a national perspective of the documentary, animation and interactive creation sectors, as well as regional, linguistic and cultural realities.

She will succeed Francesca Accinelli, who has served as interim CEO since September 2022.

“With the appointment of Julie Roy as Executive Director, I am confident that Telefilm Canada will make progress towards achieving its national goals,” the minister said in his statement.

“His in-depth knowledge of the industry and his unifying and mobilizing leadership will guide the agency into the future. »
