The first Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on international Affairs Dmitry Novikov appreciated the appeal of Vladimir Putin to the world powers, expressed in the article of the President of Russia of the Second world war for the U.S. magazine The National Interest. According to Novikov, communication between politicians and statesmen is better than “the conversation of the murder weapons, destroying each other during the war.” He noted that on the background of the spread of the international security system it is important to create a new one, but this is impossible without negotiations international leaders.

Novikov stressed that the policy of the United States and their withdrawal from several international treaties casts doubt on the questions of nuclear deterrence and creates an unsettling atmosphere. This exacerbated the threat of conflicts in which the participants can use modern weapons. To avoid this, you need to use all the “negotiating leverage,” he added.

Putin’s article “the Real lessons of the 75th anniversary of the Second world war” for the American magazine The National Interest was published on 18 June. In it the Russian leader also appealed to the permanent members of the UN Security Council — USA, UK, China and France and expressed hope for the imminent holding of the summit of leaders of the five countries.
