Winter will be a difficult test for Germany, as experts’ forecasts in case of termination of Russian gas supplies are “quite gloomy”. This statement was made by a member of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation on constitutional legislation and state construction Alexey Pushkov, reports “Gazeta.” with a link to his Telegram channel.

According to him, the German government expressed confidence in the country’s ability to survive the winter period even in the event of a gas supply cut-off from Russia. Pushkov believes that the veracity of this statement is questionable, since the German economy and industry are heavily dependent on gas. He stressed that experts’ forecasts in this regard do not bode well.

Earlier, the German Federal Grid Agency reported that the state’s gas storage facilities are 74% full. At the same time, the largest gas storage facility in Germany “Reden” is currently filled by 52.28%. At the beginning of April 2022, less than 1% of fuel was in storage.

It is noted that the supplied volume of gas through the Russian Nord Stream gas pipeline does not exceed 20% of its full capacity.

Germany is facing a gas shortage against the background of sanctions imposed against Russia in connection with the fighting in Ukraine.
