Pandemic coronavirus may contribute to the development of tourism in Russia. On Monday, June 1, was announced by the Vice-President of the National Union of hospitality industry (OSIG) Alexey Volkov live on the YouTube channel of the Public news service.
According to Volkov, the situation in which for the Russians is temporarily prevented travel abroad, can bring benefits for the tourism business inside the country — to create “conditions for rest of citizens”.
“We expect a spurt in domestic tourism. Where it will be intra-regional tourism, if neighboring regions are under pressure epidemiological (…) Now is the time to pay attention to Russia”, — said the expert.
He added that the development of tourism in Russia in the conditions of the pandemic is only possible with the introduction of government support programs: leasing of vacation and delays for transport companies, car-share, taxis and tourist buses, as well as tax reduction for enterprises.
“So we will be able to achieve that in a few years, Russia was a different level of tourism volume and income of enterprises. Need to work on promoting the country to show to its people”, — said Vice-President OSIG.

The main risk to the tourist market, according to experts, there is the probability of the second wave of coronavirus, which are forecast in the fall. If in the country again impose severe restrictions, most of the enterprises of hotel and restaurant business can go bankrupt or go to semi-legal activities.
“in order to compensate for the losses incurred during the pandemic, we would like to extend the tourist season until October-November. If it will not last in the resort towns, and everything will go without money for the winter, then next year there will remain only 10-20 percent of large companies”, — concluded Alexey Volkov.
