Flagship icebreaker was given the name “Russia”.In “Rosneft” declared that this vessel will become the most powerful icebreaker in the history of world shipbuilding, and this project has no analogues. The icebreaker will be able to overcome the ice thickness of up to 4.3 m, making a corridor to 50 m wide. It needs to provide year-round movement of the commercial fleet along the Northern sea route.The construction contract was signed on 23 April 2020 between a “Star” and FSUE “Atomflot”. The price of the contract — to 127.6 billion rubles, the money allocated to it by the budget. The customer of the icebreaker is “Rosatom”.
