Polish farmers are not enough workers from Ukraine, who massively left the country during a pandemic coronavirus. This was stated by the head of the Polish Union of gardeners, member of the Sejm Miroslaw Maliszewski.

He explained that the border was opened too late. “More and more people want to come, but still not so easy to cross the border,” – said Maliszewski in an interview with RIA Novosti. According to him, the Polish authorities issue to citizens of Ukraine a sufficient number of permits to work, but difficulties arose on the side of the consular service.

meanwhile, in the near future farmers will need helpers in the collection of strawberries, later blueberries and apples. “It’s three cultures, which we produce in Poland the most, where the greatest need for manpower,” – said the Deputy.

Maliszewski noted that the lack of Ukrainian workers can affect retail price of agricultural products. The buyer will have to pay more for the product, as it will be less on the market.
