the Transit of Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine may be in jeopardy because of the claim of the leader of “Batkivshchyna” Yulia Tymoshenko. About such consequences in an interview with LIGA.net said the head of “Naftogaz” Andrey KOBOLEV.

In the appeal of deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from the faction of “Fatherland” was required to declare as unconstitutional the allocation of the operator of the gas transportation system (GTS) of Ukraine “Naftogaz”, which became a part of the deal with Gazprom.

According to KOBOLEV, if the decision to cancel the Secretariat of the energy community recognizes Ukraine have not fulfilled their obligations and take the operator certification. Following this, Gazprom may require or revise, or to sever the transit agreement.

According to him, Tymoshenko’s victory will be an extremely negative scenario for Ukraine, since it will be abolished “drill or pay” guarantees to Kiev stable revenue for transit, even if physically pumping comes in smaller quantities than are prescribed in the agreement.

At the end of 2019, Russia and Ukraine signed the transit contract for five years. In connection with the decrease in sales of pipeline gas to Europe, “Gazprom” does not choose the purchased volume, and thus significantly overcharged for fuel.
