As reported by the police, a 49-year-old local politician was on Friday around 2:45 p.m. on Badstrasse in Bayreuth when an unknown person spoke to him and uttered several racist insults. Shortly thereafter, the stranger headbutted the politician in the face and injured him. The 49-year-old required medical attention.
The companion of the unknown attacker also racially abused the local politician. After the act, the unknown fled unrecognized through a backyard. The police immediately initiated a search, but so far have been unsuccessful.
The investigators assume a racially motivated attack. The first witnesses are currently being investigated. The criminal police are investigating the case with high pressure. Immediately at the scene of the crime, the officers from the Bayreuth city police station were able to identify the lady who was accompanying the stranger and who was also racially insulting the victim. It is a 39-year-old from Bayreuth.
