In Armenia 2022 banned disposable plastic bags

YEREVAN, April 17 – RIA Novosti. The Armenian Parliament at a meeting on Friday adopted in the second and final reading amendments to the law “On trade and services”, providing for the 2022 ban on the disposable plastic bags with a thickness of 50 microns, the correspondent of RIA Novosti.

According to the Minister of environment of Armenia Eric Grigoryan, the bill prohibits the sale (realization) of plastic bags and pouches with a thickness up to 50 microns. With the exception of films for packaging and packages and bags made from recycled materials. He noted that the ban will come into effect from 1 January 2022.

“In Armenia, similar products are produced in 44 enterprises. In Tajikistan annually produced 12 thousand tons of plastic bags, and households consumed 3,6 – 4 thousand tons. These volumes can be replaced by alternative products”, – stated in the Ministry of the environment.
