Paysandu Coach Criticizes Team Performance After Loss to Sport

Despite facing a tough opponent who was playing at home and near the top of the table, Paysandu coach Hélio dos Anjos was not impressed with Sport’s performance. He attributed the 1-0 loss on Tuesday, in the 9th round of the Serie B, more to his team’s poor performance rather than the quality of the opposition.

Dos Anjos expressed his disappointment with his team’s lackluster display throughout the match, stating that they failed to impose their characteristic style of play. He acknowledged that Sport scored from their only shot on target, but he believed they lacked offensive creativity overall. The team’s usual strengths on the wings and in midfield were non-existent, with some players performing below their usual standards.

In comparison, Dos Anjos felt that despite Sport’s quality, they did not show exceptional skills during the game. He described it as their worst performance in the Serie B so far.

Sport dominated the game with 14 shots compared to Paysandu’s five, limiting the latter’s attacking opportunities. Fabricio Domínguez’s goal secured the victory for Sport, ending their winless streak and breaking Paysandu’s six-game unbeaten run.

Next, Paysandu will face Ituano at the Novelli Júnior stadium in Itu on Saturday.
