Dwayne haskins was sadly missed by his former teammates and coaches during Friday’s emotional memorial service. This took place less than two weeks after the 24 year-old quarterback was struck while walking along a South Florida highway.

Former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, Pittsburgh Steelers’ coach Mike Tomlin and current Ohio State coach Ryan Day were just a few of the hundreds who attended a service at Allegheny Alliance Church, Pittsburgh’s North Side, near Heinz Field.

During the closed-door service, Tomlin, Haskins’ wife, Kalabrya and Steven Sims (former NFL teammate), Cedric Saunders, Haskins’ agent and long-time friends Mohamed Jabbie, Mykel Traylor–Bennett, spoke. After walking out of the church’s front, attendees were presented with yellow roses and three doves in tribute to Haskins.

This is the first service to be dedicated to Haskins, a former Ohio State star and 2019 Washington Commanders first-round pick. After being released by Washington, Haskins signed a one year contract to remain in Pittsburgh in March.

A memorial service will be held in Rockaway Township (New Jersey), where Haskins was born. A memorial service will be held at the Bullis School in Potomac (Maryland), where Haskins attended high school before signing with Ohio State.
