Legendary filmmaker David Lynch posted on his own YouTube channel “Theater of David Lynch” your ten-minute animated film “Fire”. About the film and his backstory says Andrei Plakhov. The viewer of this animated short film gets to the theater, reminiscent of the old rides type of shadow theater. Man with long gnarled hands, like the stump, lights the fire and gives vent to the imagination. Through the various holes — from tiny round holes to large holes — we look for miracles in the burning universe. The fire engulfed the house and the tree, gray-white space fills up wriggling worms and like spiders or grasshoppers deer, white head, drops of tears falling from the top of the round black stones…David Lynch, though he made the famous story, even commercial films from the relic breed pure visionaries. He creates alternate worlds that are more real than reality itself. A read through his mystical mysteries and revelations. But when Lynch asked what meaning he put in one or another episode, in a movie, he says, the movie image can not utter words, the movie itself is the most adequate language for dreams and phantasms. The Director is not adapted his own dreams, which, he argues, is not scary and ominous. It does not cure your subconscious mind does not expel the demons through the cameras. It shows the world the way it naturally perceives. In his youth, Lynch studied painting at their favorite Oskar Kokoschka. The first experimental film of the “sick Six” represented a chain of one-minute episodes, which shows six goals: first, they’re vomiting, and then they light up. First big movie “eraserhead” was about the disgusting germ, about premature the freaks, excrement and waste of post-industrial civilization. When the first Studio film is Lynch’s “the elephant Man”, directed strongly opposed by every rational interpretations of this work: “I don’t know why it is considered that art should have meaning. After all somehow come to terms with the fact that life has no meaning.” Then I saw the light “dune,” “Blue velvet”, “twin Peaks”, “Wild at heart”, “Fire walk with me”, “lost Highway”.1990 year at the Cannes film festival was declared the “year of Lynch”, the jury awarded him the “Palme d’or”. The second triumphal peak became celebrated Millenium “Mulholland Drive”. And all subsequent years, the Director returns to the beginning, to the era of seclusion and personal experiment. He shuns of big Studio projects, preferring to work almost alone at home. He indulges in meditation, manufactures lamps and lots of powertons of coffee — all it promotes a rush of creative inspiration. When the world sat on the quarantine, the Director stepped up your YouTube channel “Theater of David Lynch”, mostly consisting of 30-second videos with messages about the weather. And shared to the film “Fire”, previously only shown at festivals. Animator worked on it Japanese Noriko Miyakawa and the music was composed by pole Marek Zebrowski. Both have long been linked with Lynch, and Poland is his favorite European country. Unlike Angelo Badalamenti, composer of the classic linchevski movies, writing music based on the idea of the future picture, Zhebrovsky illustrated ready graphic material. It seems that the regime of self-isolation appeared to Lynch a popular form of creative existence in his own inland Empire. He sees in this situation a valuable lesson for humanity and believes that “the other side” we are waiting for something good, the negativity should be left “on this side”. However, it should still be borne in mind that the concept of “good” the Director is very peculiar.
