After the Bundesliga soccer game between Borussia Dortmund and SV Darmstadt 98 in Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park, problem fans attacked police officers and seriously injured two of them.
A 26-year-old suffered an injury from a kick on Saturday and a 33-year-old suffered a shoulder injury, the police said. The sold-out football game in the stadium was quiet, but the fan groups clashed in the parking lots afterwards. Masked problem fans from Darmstadt attacked the police, including by throwing bottles. The two seriously injured officers were taken to hospital after the attacks. According to the information, the police officer’s attacker was found in a coach and the police officer’s attacker escaped undetected. Four suspects between the ages of 20 and 30 are now facing criminal proceedings for, among other things, breach of the peace and attacking law enforcement officers.
