An international group of researchers, headed by scientists from the national laboratory in Los Alamos (USA) have identified a new mutation of coronavirus infection, which is nine times more contagious than the previous one.

She was given the name of G614 and scientists said that it now acts as the dominant form. As studies have shown, a mutation is much more contagious, but the disease in contracted it is not harder than in other cases.

Experts have told that the mutation has affected the protein spike of the virus, by which it penetrates into the cells. Soon they want to figure out how to change the coronavirus can affect the efficacy of vaccines, which operate in relationship with the protein spike.

Previously, Public news service reported that China had kept samples of coronavirus from 2012.
