He has been for decades an Islamist rabble-rouser and ringleader, was repeatedly convicted and has now been extradited from Norway to Italy – in the middle of the Corona-crisis.
Najmuddin Faraj Ahmad (63) was notorious among his fight name of Mullah Krekar. Already in 1991 he applied to Norway for asylum but travelled again and again in his home country. In Iraqi Kurdistan, the Jihadist with close ties to al-Qaeda has built in the following years a wide network. In 2001, he was the leader of the terrorist group Ansar al-Islam, a Union of several Islamist groups in the Region, tried in Iraqi Kurdistan to build a rule similar to the Taliban tyranny in Afghanistan: Unveiled women were attacked on the open road, cinemas and Barber shops with Molotov cocktails attacked.
