DBU chairman Jesper Møller welcomes a possible european championships in Denmark in 2021, but still see major challenges.

Denmark wishes to host the european championships in football, even if the event is postponed from the summer 2020 summer 2021.

It announced the Dansk Boldspil-Union (DBU) on Friday to The union of European Football associations (Uefa) in an official manner, and thus, from all indications, there will be the game of the EM-matches in Copenhagen next year.

the EM-finals was 17. march postponed a year because of coronakrisen, and thus there was some uncertainty as to whether the plans for 12 different host cities could be continued.

A series of virtual meetings between partners DBU, Sport Event Denmark, city of Copenhagen and the Park is dog resulted in that there still is common ground.

Thus all of the challenges, however, far from in place. In the DBU chairman Jesper Møller still worried about all end up in the deferred arrangement can achieve together.

– It is a historic opportunity to get the EM-finals to Denmark and get four games in Copenhagen, so we can create a big football feast in the whole of Denmark.

– IN the DBU are we ready to arrange the four EM-matches in the summer of 2021. But we can’t do it without the unconditional support from our business partners. We are happy for the support, but there is still a lot of work to do, and I’m only sure, when we have a final agreement, says Jesper Møller in a press release.

the Confirmation of the Uefa does not mean that EM is definitely going to take place in Denmark, but it is the penultimate step.

the First 30. april, the Danish EM-hosts deliver a binding commitment which must be completed a large number of statements, as well as issued guarantees to Uefa.

It was obviously not possible just with a snap to postpone such a big event spread in 12 cities, and it has required hard work to find the ground, ” says Bo Rygaard, who is the chairman of Parken Sport & Entertainment.

– We hope that it formally goes in order, so we can look forward to the celebration that we had looked forward to in years. That was in the agreement between us and the Uefa taken into account that the tournament could be postponed, but it has of course required some in-depth talk with all parties, before such a large operation as to advance the EM could be managed, ” says Bo Rygaard.

He also stresses that he hopes that it formally falls into place.

the Same message comes from Frank Jensen, lord mayor of Copenhagen (S).

– Now has we all together to be able to look forward to the party and community, and the summer of 2021 can be a big sportssommer and popular festival in Copenhagen with both the european championship in football and the Tour de France, says Frank Jensen.

He shares, however, the DBU-the president’s position not to cheer yet.

– It is not flat. All parties must stretch and flexibility if it is to succeed, says Frank Jensen.
