Scientists from the National research University ITMO with the support of British colleagues have developed a robotic assistant that can automate the process of growing tissues from stem cells. Ultimately, this will provide an opportunity to extend human life.

The uniqueness of stem cells is that they can be used to replace any damaged tissue. Each person is more than 30 trillion different cells. But each of them comes from a pluripotent cell type that can form many others. This is called the stem.

Thus, in the global task of scientists in the laboratory to grow not only the stem cells that are already able to do, but entire organs. However, the next stage is still not fully solved the problem. Current technology is not fast and difficult to control, RBC reports.

All this prompted scientists to develop a robotic assistant that will allow you to automate the experiment with the transformation of stem cells into neurons. Artificial assistant printed on a 3D printer. It aims to reduce the cost and facilitate the process. In addition, it will be possible to perform up to 384 experiments simultaneously or sequentially.

From a global perspective, according to the researchers, the treatment of various diseases with stem cells will be one of the ways to postpone human aging, replacing old or sick cells with new.

Earlier, the German scientists led by Professor Federico Calegari from the Center for regenerative therapies at the Technical University of Dresden have developed a method that allows you to rejuvenate brain cells. This is made possible by acting on stem cells. Wrote NEWS.ru scientists managed to increase the number of neurons, thereby slowing the aging process of the brain, and partly to the return of his lost cognitive function.
