The Frankfurt am Main Regional Court has admitted the corruption charge against the controversial mayor Peter Feldmann (SPD) to the main hearing. Feldmann must answer to a lawsuit from October 18 on charges of accepting benefits, as the court announced on Wednesday. Six days of negotiations were scheduled.

The controversial Lord Mayor of Frankfurt am Main, Peter Feldmann (SPD), has to answer in court from October. The regional court in Frankfurt am Main has admitted a corruption lawsuit to the main hearing.

In March, the Frankfurt public prosecutor’s office brought charges based on reasonable suspicion of accepting an advantage. Feldmann’s wife is said to have received a salary in excess of the collective agreement as the head of an Awo day-care center “without any objective reason”, as it was said. In addition, the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (Awo) supported Feldmann in the 2018 election campaign by raising donations. In return, he wanted to “benevolently consider” the interests of Awo Frankfurt.

Feldmann denies the allegations, the presumption of innocence applies.
