Two Chicks rare Kaffir crow was born in the Moscow zoo. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

"Zoologists from the Moscow zoo managed to create optimal conditions for life and reproduction of these rare birds, we have today contains the largest group of Kaffir ravens among zoos in the world" – told in the press service of the institution.

The zoo said that the Chicks are born in April, but one of them required special care. Raven was born with a curved beak, and therefore could not get out of the egg, then he needed artificial feeding.

"One of the Chicks could not hatch from the egg. We have heard him squeak, but the chick didn’t show on the outside. We made a small hole in the shell to launch into the air or he would suffocate. Waited another day, but the chick did not hatch. We expanded the hole, then he began to get yourself" – explained the General Director of the Moscow zoo Svetlana Akulova.

Now the young are fed by natural adult food – mice, insects, berries and fruit. In the future they will be engaged in the development of cognitive abilities – Kaffir crow is well trained and can perform unusual for birds of the task.

Only in the Moscow zoo is home to a group of nine ravens of this type. This breeding couple – Carl and Clara, five teenagers, who were born in 2017, 2018 and 2019, as well as two baby crow. Find their aviary in the bird House on the Old site.
