Jens Spahn makes it clear: “Cushing towards China and duping France and the USA in the process damages German interests.”

Shortly before the chancellor’s Beijing trip, the Union called on Scholz to rethink China policy. Scholz does not take China’s strategy of increasing Chinese dominance seriously enough by systematically buying up Western companies and infrastructure, criticized Jens Spahn, the deputy leader of the Union in the Bundestag, in an interview with the news portal t-online.

“Instead, he is leading Germany deeper into one-sided dependency. Coaxing towards China and duping France and the USA at the same time damages German and European interests,” said Spahn: “The debate about a new China policy must be held now. And we expect the Chancellor to make a statement on this next week in the Bundestag after his trip.”
